We are officially less THAN 48 hours away until the 2017 Scarefest kicks off – and the anticipation is extremely palpable. The amazing people behind the country’s largest paranormal/horror convention have graciously allowed us here at Stay 2uned to cover the event. And let me just say that we are extremely grateful for the experience.
A quick side note here – ever since I attended the 2010 Scarefest – I just knew I wanted to return in some form or fashion. So for the past two years now, I have been signing up to volunteer only to have life cut in. I believe that volunteering for different events – be it conventions or festivals – is truly an eye opening and awarding experience. Thankfully this year it was in the cards for me to be able to do just that. And then on a whim, I submitted a request to cover the event as media; not thinking that I, well, we had a chance of being approved. A few days later I got the email saying that Stay 2uned had been accepted. To say that I was shell shocked would be an absolute understatement.
So, I find myself in an…interesting and unique situation. The mission statement for this website is ‘to go behind the scenes’. I have always wondered – as I’m sure a lot of you do as well – how a convention comes to life. Let me just tell you it takes a LOT of work by a whole army of dedicated individuals. I can not wait until this weekend because I just know that it’s gonna be phenomenal.
Without further a do, here are a few things one needs to know about this weekend’s Scarefest:
1.) There are still PLENTY of tickets available for purchase;
$50.00 for a Three Day Weekend Pass, $20.00 for Friday ONLY, $25.00 for Saturday ONLY, and $15.00 for Sunday ONLY. There are also some Golden Membership VIP tickets left which are $100.00 each. “The GOLDEN MEMBERSHIP is a VIP Pass for 1 That Includes: *Weekend Pass Membership, that gives you admission to The ScareFest for all 3 days! * Includes Admission to our Exclusive Friday VIP Party, Saturday Night’s Costume Ball and The Home Depot Kids Day on Sunday. * One Standard ScareFest X 2017 T-shirt * One Current Year ScareFest X Convention Poster.” (1)
2.) Get there early because parking is usually FREE in the early, early morning. The main parking lot is directly across from Rupp Arena/ The Lexington Convention Center. For more information, please visit https://www.rupparena.com/plan-your-visit/parking .
3.) Know what seminars/panels you wish to attend and plan accordingly. Check out the official Scarefest schedule here: https://thescarefest.com/seminar-panel-schedule/
4.) Bring some cash because the ATMs on site will run out of cash quickly. Yours truly learned the hard way a few years ago.
All of this information and more can be found on the official website: https://thescarefest.com/.
Hope to see you all there!
