It’s officially one week until the premiere of the highly anticipated comic book adaptation Revival on Syfy, set to debut on Thursday, June 12, 2025, at 10 p.m. ET/PT. A familiar face, Melanie Scrofano of Wynonna Earp fame, leads the charge in what promises to be an instant hit for both longtime fans of the beloved Image Comics series and newcomers alike.
Who doesn’t love a good zombie story? Well, hold off on the brain-eating clichés because Revival isn’t your typical undead tale. As the official synopsis describes:
“On one miraculous day in rural Wisconsin, the recently deceased suddenly rise from their graves. But this is no zombie story as the ‘revived’ appear and act just like they once were. When local officer and single mother Dana Cypress is unexpectedly thrown into the center of a brutal murder mystery of her own, she’s left to make sense of the chaos amidst a town gripped by fear and confusion where everyone, alive or undead, is a suspect.”

These “Revivers,” as they’re called, aren’t shambling corpses but rather people who look, talk, and behave as they did in life, sparking a mix of awe, fear, and suspicion in their small Wisconsin town.
If you’ve read the original comic series by Tim Seeley and Mike Norton, which ran from 2012 to 2017, you’re already familiar with the eerie, character-driven world of Revival. But if you’re new to the story, don’t worry—you won’t need to have read the comics to dive in. The show, crafted by co-showrunners Aaron B. Koontz and Luke Boyce, promises a fresh yet faithful take on the source material, blending supernatural horror, rural noir, and family drama into a mystery that’s accessible to all. So, mark your calendars and get ready for a series that’s as much about life as it is about what comes after.

Now, yours truly had the chance to watch the first six episodes of Revival, and let me tell you—the entire cast ate and left zero crumbs. This show feels like a breath of fresh air for Syfy, sidestepping the usual genre tropes. It’s a masterful mix of action, intrigue, comedy, and dark humor, all perfectly balanced. For fans of the comics, the transition from page to screen feels seamless, capturing the essence of the source material while adding its own cinematic flair. Whether you’re a longtime reader or a first-time viewer, Revival delivers a unique and gripping experience. There are more than enough pearl-clutching moments throughout – naturally, you will have to tune in weekly to see just what said moments were.
In the meantime, enjoy the official trailer for the upcoming season premiere. “Revival” will rise next Thursday, June 12th, at 10:00 PM EST /9:00 PM CST – only on Syfy.
