Preview: BTE Presents: Elephant & Piggie’s “We Are in a Play!”

We’re officially less than five days away from the much-anticipated premiere of Bloomsburg Theatre Ensemble’s summer production: Elephant & Piggie’s “We Are in a Play!

Spanning a just over two weeks, with multiple performances throughout the week — one can’t think of a better way to spend a warm summer afternoon or evening out on the town with family.

Without further ado, here is the official press release and teaser trailer for the final show of BTE’s current season:


ELEPHANT AND PIGGIE MUSICAL COMING TO BTE IN JULY

BLOOMSBURG – JUNE 23 – Two of children’s book author Mo Willems’ most loved characters are the stars of this year’s Bloomsburg Theatre Ensemble Summer Family Series, Elephant and Piggie’s “We Are In A Play!”

Elephant and Piggie’s “We Are In A Play” follows two best friends, Gerard the African Forest Elephant and Piggie the American Yorkshire Pig, on an exciting afternoon packed with parties, toys, ice cream, and dancing. The duo will be recognizable to any fans of the Elephant and Piggie book series, which author Willems adapted into this musical with music composer Deborah Wicks La Puma.

Bloomsburg Theatre Ensemble Resident Artist Aaron White is set to direct. BTE Resident Artist Kimie Muroya 室屋季美恵 and Guest Artist Jacob Challenger will star as Piggie and Gerard, respectively. Muroya and Challenger will be joined on-stage by fifteen young actors from the surrounding region. These young actors will be spilt into two rotating casts.

The Florie cast includes Gianna Capita as Delivery Dog and Aiden Kawas as Ice Cream Penguin with Hannah KonkolicsCharlee Hamilton, and Lylah Kahn as the Onomatopoetics dancers and Stella Bailey, Mya Lannan, and Rosie Turnbough as the Squirrelles. Lucia Piatt (Delivery Dog), Zev McCallum (Ice Cream Penguin), Katie CrevelingKatelyn La ValleyAva Siegrist (The Onomatopoetics), Jocelyn Rarig, Hannah Konkolics, and Carson Feger (the Squirrelles) are their Flippy cast counterparts.

White has also reunited much of his acclaimed Charlie Brown Christmas production team for Elephant and Piggie’s “We Are In A Play.”

Amanda Haney is the production’s music director. Phill Haney will be responsible for sound design. Isy Kessler is the props designer. Rae Weber will stage manage. Heather Rummings is the assistant stage manager. BTE Technical Director and Scene Shop Manager Gregor Gunelson is the scenic designer. Liz Ennis and Jen Rock, who weren’t on the Charlie Brown production team, are the Costume and Lighting designers, respectively. Hannah Konkolics is also the production’s Dance Captain. Reilly Ernest is Deck Captain.Elephant & Piggie’s “We Are in a Play!” will have two low-price previews on Thursday, July 16th and Friday, July 17th. Tickets are $15.00 for both adults and children. Showtimes are 7:00 PM.

Regular showtimes are 1:00 PM on Wednesdays and Thursdays, 1:00 and 7:00 PM on Fridays, 7:00 PM on Saturdays, and 2:00 PM on Sundays. There will also be 2:00 PM showings on Saturday, July 18th and Saturday, August 1st.

The free Kathy Baas Sensory-Friendly Performance will be on Saturday, July 25th at 2:00 PM.
