I’ll be honest: when I first heard about The Rainmaker, I was skeptical. Another procedural law show? With so many out there, it’s easy to assume they’re all cut from the same cloth. But let me tell you, USA Network’s upcoming freshman series, based on John Grisham’s novel of the same name, is anything but ordinary. Trust me—this is one show you don’t want to miss.
Full disclosure: my curiosity was initially piqued by none other than Her Majesty, Lana Parrilla, best known as the iconic Regina Mills from ABC’s Once Upon a Time. In The Rainmaker, Parrilla steps into the role of Jocelyn “Bruiser” Stone, a no-nonsense lawyer who commands every scene she’s in. And, okay, I’ll admit it—there’s a spark of that regal Regina energy in Bruiser that has me hooked. Fans of hers will not be disappointed.
