We’re two weeks out from New York Comic Con’s 20th anniversary.
October 8–11 at the Jacob Javits Center, the floor will be the usual mix of big studios — Marvel, Paramount, AMC — plus the celebrities, creators, and corners of pop culture that make this show what it is.
This one sits differently for me. NYCC was the first fan convention I ever attended, many years ago.
It feels amazing to return.
I’m especially looking forward to the 4th Annual Broadway to Hollywood: A Look at the New Age of Musicals, Prime Video’s Helluva Boss Q&A and world premiere screening, and the joint “Ghosts”&”Eternally Yours” panel.
Everything else in between is the bonus: four days with the weird kids who found their people.
And now, for some handy tips from us here at Stay2uned:
The most important thing you can pack is patience. We’ll be in close quarters with several thousand people for four days. Lines will be long — not just for food, ATMs, and restrooms, but for panels too. You name it.
As they say – hurry up & wait.
Second, pack personal hygiene. Bring baby wipes, hand sanitizer (the restrooms run out of soap more often than you’d think), deodorant, and any first aid or medication you need. Wear comfortable shoes.
This is not the weekend to break in a new pair. I may have made that mistake once.
Be mindful. Don’t set your bag down and walk away. Keep what you bring with you. Nothing ends a weekend faster than something getting stolen.
Finally, have fun!
It’s easy to get stuck trying to be everywhere at once. You can’t.
Pick one, two, maybe three panels you truly want to see. You will not make every panel on your list. Leave yourself some room.
Panels aren’t the whole show. There are so many wonderful main quests, side quests, and everything else in between during NYCC.
Leave the beaten path and go explore. You will never know what you could find unless you do.
