Wanna See A Movie?

With many of us under lock down or quarantine thanks to Covid-19, we’ve found ourselves binge watching some of our old favorite shows or movies and even discovering some new ones. But if you’re anything like me, you’re yearning to go see a new movie out in theaters. The virus brought many new films to us through video on demand, which definitely costs more than a movie ticket if you aren’t able to rent it and have to buy direct. Others had their release dates pushed back in hopes that theaters would reopen well before the rescheduled release date. And with luck, those theaters, who didn’t go under thanks to this virus, are now finally able to allow patrons back in. So, you wanna go see a movie? Let’s talk what’s coming out soon!

Wonder Woman: 1984

Originally slated to be released in June 2020, Wonder Woman 1984 found a new release date closer to Christmas time. Many of us have had plenty of time to see the trailers, search for any potential spoilers we could find and prepare ourselves for this next installment. Fast forward to 1984 where we rejoin Diana Prince (aka Wonder Woman) on her next adventure during the Cold War. As if war isn’t bad enough, let’s throw in 2 new villains from the DC Universe with Lord Maxwell played by Pedro Pascal and Cheetah played by Kristen Wiig. And might I add that I am looking forward to seeing Kristen Wiig play this role!!

Black Widow

This is one that I am particularly excited about because I am a HUGE Marvel fan. Originally, Black Widow was set to release in May 2020, but was pushed back to the first of November. Now we all know by now what became of one of our MCU favorites in Avengers: Endgame (if you don’t, what are you waiting for?!?!), but now let’s see what her origin story is on the big screen. Being born and given straight to the KBG to be groomed into their most valuable operative, we fast forward into a tale of why they suddenly changed their minds and decide to kill her. I don’t know about you, but ever since Endgame, I’ve been super stoked about the next phase Marvel has planned.

Ghostbusters: Afterlife

Let’s face it…who doesn’t love the Ghostbusters films? I know I sure do. Originally set to release in July 2020, this film found itself pushed back almost an entire year, to March 2021. In this installment we are going to see many of the original cast members joining some new faces. This film is set 30 years after the second film (you know….Vigo in the painting) and follows a family new to a small town with a connection not only to a secret legacy involving their grandfather, but to the originally Ghostbusters themselves. Definitely looking forward to watching this one with the family.

Godzilla vs. Kong

Slated to be released in November 2020, Godzilla vs. Kong was pushed back to May 2021. Much like the title reveals, we will see two of Hollywood’s famous monsters square up. Humanity on the other hand is looking to take out both creatures and reclaim the planet. The cast alone for this film looks amazing! We’ll see Millie Bobby Brown, Alexander Skarsgard and Eiza Gonzalez amongst others take on these two titans! My son is a major Stranger Things fan, so Millie Bobby Brown paired with 2 of his favorite monsters will make for some great family time with this film!

These are just a few anticipated films that were affected by the Rona, but there are many others still holding strong to their release dates and 2021 looks to be a fun year in film as well! What are some of the movies you’re looking forward to seeing soon at your favorite local theater?
